Basics

PNG-File-Format

The PNG or Portable Network Graphics-File-Formate, is just the next version of the GIF-File-Formate.
It is able to save pictures in 48-Bit truecolor or 16-Bit greyscale formate. And it has a lossless compression.
As well as the compression is much higher then with TGA-Files.
Just as TGA, it is also able to save an alpha channel.
The alpha channel will be the mask that we put arround our graphic.
The mask is required for NoLimits to see what parts of the graphic will be used. That means that all parts that are not surrounded by a mask will not be displayed later on in NoLimits.
